“GLP-1s are changing how consumers think about weight management and what they expect from nutrition products,” said Shil Kothari, president of Gateway Health Alliances. “Brands and formulators have an opportunity to develop multifunctional products that support appetite and satiety alongside the metabolic systems connected to healthy weight. Clinically validated botanicals give us a foundation for meaningful innovation, with benefits that extend beyond pounds lost.”
Gateway’s research includes a 16-week randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study evaluating Dyglomera®, a patented extract of Dichrostachys glomerata, and CQR-300®, a patented extract of Cissus quadrangularis. Published in the peer-reviewed journal Medicina, the study found that both ingredients increased the body’s natural GLP-1 response and reduced activity of DPP-4, the enzyme that breaks down GLP-1.
These findings complement Gateway’s broader research into botanical support for leptin, adiponectin and insulin-related pathways. Together, these interconnected systems help regulate appetite, glucose handling and energy balance, making them essential considerations for long-term weight management and metabolic health.
